Happy Birthday, K..K..K..King Khan
On the occasion of the birthday of Shahrukh Khan, I am sharing 3 interesting trivia about his films. Hope you will like it.
1. As reported during 2006, Colombian sensation Shakira expressed her desire to be a part of a hindi movie after being inspired by her Indian-themed performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. Shakira and her troupe performed a hip-shaking Bollywood-inspired rendition of ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ at that award ceremony. The routine was choreographed by our very own Farah Khan.
Shakira was so impressed while working
with Farah during rehearsals for the show, she asked if she could dance in her forthcoming
movie. Despite lot of media reports, it ultimately turned out to be a damp squib.
Instead, Farah’s directorial venture ‘Om Shanti Om’, released in 2007, had the dance number Dard-e-Disco featuring SRK.
It’s a pretty well known fact that Sanjay Dutt was the original choice of the role of antagonist Rahul, but Yash Chopra was unable to finalize him because of his jail sentence. As luck would have it, Aamir Khan also rejected the role for certain differences of opinion with the director. Finally, the genre-defying role fall into the lap of SRK.
Interestingly, Hrithik Roshan also has a pretty significant connection with that movie. It was actually Hrithik and Uday Chopra who suggested the story after watching the romantic thriller ‘Dead Calm’, starring Nicole Kidman and Sam Neill. They coaxed Aditya Chopra to watch that film. After watching that film, Aditya decided to Indianise the plot and conceptualize ‘Darr’. Moreover, the title of the cult 1993-film too was taken from an amateur short film made by Hrithik.
3.
The name ‘Jab Harry Met
Sejal’ was finally suggested by Ranbir Kapoor. As announced, SRK himself presented
him the winning amount.
When the title of the film was revealed, it received considerable backlash from people who accused that it must be a copy of the 1989 Hollywood iconic film ‘When Harry Met Sally’ or that it must have been inspired by it. However, contrary to popular beliefs, the two films have no distinct similarity or connection with one another.
Knew the other fundas. But Hrithik's connection with Darr was absolutely goldmine kind of information. Happy to read it.
